Healthy Policy
Healthy Policy Design, Operation and Evaluation
Our Healthy Policy work, also called Health in All Policies, links to our Health Assessment work, specifically designing processes to incorporate Health Assessment into the development, operation and evaluation of Healthy Policy.
We Develop and Health Proof Public and Organisational Policy using the latest Healthy Policy and Health in All Policies research, principles and practice.
This is different from doing a Health Impact Assessment of a newly developed or current policy.
The aim is to help to develop new policies and new policy processes by critically analysing and evaluating relevant past policies and policy processes at local, national and international levels, critiques of past and existing policies, and policy making, and stakeholder consultation and media responses, including an organisation’s staff, and professional stakeholders.
The aim of a Healthy Policy Review or Health Proofing Policy Review is to enhance quality of life, reduce health and social inequalities, promote health equity and maximise the health and well-being impacts of a policy.
Healthy Policy Research
Research in Healthy Policy and Health Proofing Policy focuses on three things, and we have experience of all of them:
Critically analysing newly developed or revised policies before they are published.
Reviewing the state-of-art and state-of-science on developing and implementing new or revised policies .
Evaluate the effectiveness of current policies to evaluate what has worked and what not and to analyse the barrier and facilitating factors to make the policy more effective.
Healthy Policy Capacity Building
We love teaching others about healthy public policy and are happy to do online and on-site training on healthy public policy and health in all policies for you and your organisation.
We design and tailor the course to the timescale and the content that you want.
We can also build capacity through mentoring you, and your organisation, using a ‘learning by doing’ approach to successfully develop and apply healthy public policy and health in all policies principles to new policymaking.
