Salim Vohra

Salim has a degree in medicine, a masters in environmental epidemiology and a doctorate in public and environmental health and policy. He has worked in public health for over 20 years, with a focus on HIA for the last 15 years. He started Public Health by Design after heading the IOM’s Center for Health Impact Assessment for 7 years.

He has undertaken over 50 HIAs across the globe, on policies, programmes, plans and projects, and on many sectors  - urban, transport, energy, extractives, water and sanitation, waste, health services. Salim has worked with local and national authorities, the private and social sectors and international development institutions.

Salim has authored various HIA guides, both within the UK and internationally.

He is a senior lecturer in health promotion and public health at the University of West London, an Honorary Fellow of Staffordshire University and Conjoint Lecturer at the University of South Wales for his expertise in HIA.

He is a former co-Chair of the Health Section of the International Association for Impact Assessment; a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, an Associate of the Faculty of Public Health; an affiate of the UK Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment; a member of the Transport and Health Study Group;  and an Editorial Board member for Environmental Impact Assessment Review.

 

Filipe Silva

Filipe is a medical doctor with a master in public health and 6 years of experience in public health and development in various settings.

Now working full time on HIA, Filipe has undertaken more than 20 HIAs in different sectors - transport, energy, extractives, urban planning, water and sanitation - and in different socio-economic and development contexts within Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Australia.

He integrated or supported coordination of international HIA teams developing HIA, and health in EIA, systems in six countries and providing capacity building to authorities at the national and provincial levels.

Filipe has additional training on EIA, SEA, geographical information systems and quantitative risk assessment, especially on the health impacts of outdoor air pollution.

Filipe is registered with the Portuguese Medical Association and is a member of the International Association for Impact Assessment.


Our core team is supported by two additional staff members supporting project
coordination, management, finances and business development. We also have an
extensive network of partners who we bring in on a project-by-project basis to
supply the most relevant expertise to our clients.
